Schmidt-Rubin Model 1911 Rifle………SOLD

The superbly engineered M1911 Schmidt-Rubin Rifle in 7.5 x 55mm

This is the M1896 /11 rifle modified to take the 7.5mm Model 11 cartridge. Basically the locking lugs on the bolt have been relocated to the front of the sleve to procuce a more accurate base and a stronger lock up.

This rifle number  342811  has matching numbers on the barrel, action, bolt and detacable box magazine. The stock is numbered to a different rifle number  111332, but is in excellent condition with a later added oil finish.  The steel butt plate has the last three digits of the serial number on the tang, 811 .  There is a  swiss cross on a shield cartouch on the right hand side of the stock

The blueing all over is excellent and original though there is some minor high edge wear.  The box magazine is detachable and will hold open the bolt once expended.

 

The pull handle has the red plastic knob.  The action is very smooth and opperates just fine.  The bore is excellent with no pitting. It has strong rifling with good depth and little wear.  There are small Swiss crosses stamped into many parts including the barrel bands, rear sightbase (graduated up to 2000m) the bolt, the action and barrel.  The  fore-end cap, bayonet catch and stacking hook are in excellent condition with virtually no losses just a very small scratch just above the hinge.  There are two sling swivles with a modern reproduction leather sleve in excellent condition.

This rifle is just waiting to win competetions with the right person behind it and appearance wise, would put many others to shame.
