SWEDISH MAUSER M96 by CARL GUSTAFS..SOLD

A Good M96 Swedish Mauser by the Carl Gustafs Works

Serial number 507284 – matching throughout (except cleaning rod).  Overall length 49.1/2″.  Barrel length 29″.  Chambered in 6.5 x 55 Swedish.

This is the full length or long rifle 1896 model rifle with Swedish built Mauser action.  Straight handled bolt polished in the white, as with magazine follower.  Internal 5 – shot magazine.  The rest of the rifle finished in a good armoury blue. Some parts like the rear sight spring are nitre blue finished and still hold an attractive strong colour.

Full length red Beech hardwood stock with finger grooves sourced locally in Sweden.  The breech marked with the Carl Gustafs crowned “CG” monogram over “CARL GUSTAFS STADS /GEVARSFAKTORI /1923”.    The RHS of the action marked with the serial number and “B.F.” the inspector at the factory, Johan Arvid Birger Fagergren 1923 to 1926.

The round barrel and action retain 99% of their blued finish with only the slightest degree of loss on the high points of the stepped muzzel.  The muzzel being stepped to accept the bayonet ring.  The usual bore condition brass disc is inleted into the RHS of the butt stock.  Excellent bore, as would be expected of this mark and mechanically fine.

A fine post World War One Rifle ready to be owned again with pride.
