Second Pattern Commando Dagger……..SOLD

Rare Nickel Finished Second pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife
A rarely found Second Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Fighting Knife in wonderful condition.
Overall length 11.1/2″. Solid knurled handle of 4.5/8″ with rounded plain button nut. The two-sided blade is 6.1/2″ in length with a small triangular flat just visible at the hilt.
The plain rounded cross guard is nearly two inches across.
This is identified as a rare second pattern in the nickel finish of the earlier first pattern knives. The blade is very good with minor areas of mild corrosion which are almost un-noticeable. Attention with the correct grade wire wool and oil will probably deal with it. Weight and balance are all reminiscent of the earlier model. There are a couple of light dings and imperfections in the top of the handle near the button-shaped nut, but apart from that it is in excellent condition.
There are no letters stamped on the cross guard but this is not unusual. There is no sheath.
A rare and interesting knife from the famous stable of Fairbairn-Sykes.
