TOP: No5MK1ROF(F) / 7/45  01816  as it appears on the left hand side of the action. Bolt with matching serial number. “ROF(F)” meaning Royal Ordenance Factory Fazakerly.

Barrel 18.1/2″ plus flash-hider. Overall length 39.1/2″. Stock length 13.1/2″ Extremely dark stock, suspected soaked in oil for protection against conditions in the far east. Steel butt plate with rubber pad to reduce recoil (as with all) with bar for sling attachment.

The stock is faintly inscribed with a soldiers details and number, possibly “15 17 10516 / 60465 / S.WAK”  The left-hand wrist is marked with a Broard Arrow.  – the barrel band “M47”.  – the  foresight  guard “M/47C”. Correct carbine rear sight calibrated from 200 yds to 800 yds. .303 caliber, good bore, smooth action. Standard 10 shot magazine renumberd to suit rifle. Woodwork also numbered under fore-end in front of barrel band. Wear consumate with age and service use, some pitting on the barrel band on right hand side.  A nice honest example of a Classic British Rifle .

CENTER: (With sling)  No5MK1ROF(F) / 10/44  C2344 is marked on the action wall. (F) meaning Fazakerly. Bolt with matching number. Bolt-head drilled for lightening (as with all) .303 caliber.

Barrel 18.1/2″ plus flash hider. Overall length 39.1/2″ Stock length 13.1/4″.  Good medium dark coloured Walnut stock with small inspectors marks behind trigger guard. No splits or shakes but two small armoury type repairs – one to hand guard and one to forend infront of magazine. On the right side of the butt there are two roundels pressed into the stock, the first is indistinct the second appears to be “506 / broard arrow / .63” within a circle.

Correct steel mounted rubber butt pad with webbing sling attached. Forend woodwork is stamped with serial number. Front sight guard stamped with M/47 C. Correct carbine sights. Bore looks to be excellent, sharp clean bright with no pitting. Barrel is still wearing original black gloss paint. Another fine example of the famous .303 Jungle Carbine.

BOTTOM: Made since WW2.  Marked “No5MK1(F)  / 5/47  AA6226”  on action wall. Receiver stamped “ENGLAND”.  Matching Bolt. Correct carbine sights.  Barrel 18.1/2″. Overall length 39″. Stock length 13″ to center. .303 caliber.

The rifle is stocked in a lighter coloured timber and the forend stamped with the matching serial number. There is a 3″ long armoury repair to the top of the butt which is stamped with the letter”S”. Correct steel mounted rubber butt plate with sling attachment bar. The forend is also repaired just behind the serial number in the form of a wooden plug.

The ten round magazine bares the serial number and there are inspection stamps and numbers on many of the components. The forend has the metal end cap fitted (unlike the other two examples which are plain) the best of the three bores but could benefit from a seroius clean. An attractive example of the Number 5 Jungle carbine.
