A very good Martini International Target Rifle Mk I Rifle with later Mk II Factory added trigger adjustment

This excellent survivor from an earlier time is still capable of pulling off pretty good results.  This looks to be a Mark I International with the later, factory installed, adjustable trigger. Serial No’ U2167.  The rifle is equipped with the heavy “bull” barrel of 29″.  Chambered in .22 Long Rifle the overall length is 44.5/8″.  The trigger pull is 13.5/8″ to centre.  Stocked in a right handed pistol gripped two piece stock.  The butt-stock has the original BSA butt-pad and a number tag marked “1”  The fore-end  has the target type adjustable hand rest.

Of standard falling block mechanism, one of the best to build a target rifle on.  Long underlever under action which opens block.  Block highly polished and showing “Crown / BV” viewing mark. Large wheel serrated screw for removal of action in one piece.  Once removed all the parts of the trigger group and falling block are marked with the matching serial number.  Two additional sight elements stored in brass knurled storage pot under fore-end marked; “PARKER-HALE.  MADE IN ENGLAND.”

The RHS of the action marked; ” B.S.A. MARTINI-INTERNATIONAL.”   Top of the knox form marked with the three stacked rifles of BSA & Co.  The rifle is fitted with the heavy Bull barrel with 6-groove rifling.  The barrel has the rear sight dove tail block fitted but only the front screws (no block)  The crest of the barrel is marked; “CARTRIDGE .22 LR”  and ” THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO’ LTD. ENGLAND”  The front sight unit compliments the rear sights with interchangeable elements and is by Parker-Hale.  In general the rifle is obviously used and shows wear and thinning of the finish but the bore looks good and the action is mechanically fine.

The adjustable aperture sights fitted to the rear are the Parker-Hale “PB25B” type.  They appear to be complete and are fully adjustable with windage, elevation and all the graduation plates in place.  A rifle that should rekindle all you basic shooting skills and more.
