1944 No4 Mk1 T .303 Sniper Rifle…………………SOLD
Created on September 5th 2010
A Good Example of a WW2 British Army Snipers Rifle
Serial Number B34587. Dated 1944 No4 Mk1 T. .303 Bolt Action Service Rifle as used by British and Commonwealth Forces in World War Two.
Marked at the wrist “M 47 C / 1944 / B34587 / TR ” Matching bolt with serial number on the bolt arm, round cocking piece. “2” on bolt head. “S” on action where bolt closes down. Left side of action marked “No 4 MK 1 T” Original unmollested mounting pads all screws in their original position.
Heavy duty cast mount with broard arrow marks in center of fixing wheels. Armourers marks on right side of mounts “47” & “48” to avoid mixing mounts if dissassembled.
Interesting and rare Mk1 Scope with excellent optics, marked on top between mounts ” C / TEL.STG.No32 MK1 / R.E.L. ^ CANADA / 1944 2647-C ” Elevation and windage turrets clearly marked with graduations which move freely with correct clicking as moving. Post and crossrail reticule clear optics. Battle sight correctly ground-away by Holland and Holland on fitting scope.
Good almost dent free walnut stock with correct beech cheek piece added. Brass butt plate with oiler trap. “S51” mark on underside of rifle butt very faint due to sympathetic refinish, unfortunately due to refinish number on top of stock not readable, but there is definately a serial number there as would be expected with a sniper config’ rifle..
Three point mount for sling. Standard features apply as for any No 4. Excellent bore and good smooth action. An almost matching No4T which is known as an excellent shooter with a super all over agaed patina to grace any serious collection of military rifles.
£2750.
