Superb privately produced India pattern (or short land pattern) smooth bore Musket from the Napoleonic era. Many of these muskets were produced in response to the perceived threat of invasion from Napoleon and this musket may have been issued to a private militia or other unit outside the regular army.
Plain sighted barrel and tang, border engraved flat stepped lock signed “H.NOCK”. Swan necked cock and steel frizzen with roller. Walnut three quarter length stock with checkering about the for-end. Regulation brass mounts. Sling swivels absent. Correct steel ramrod.
Barrel 39.1/4″ overall 56″ Stock length 14″
CONDITION:This particular India pattern Musket is in fine condition and good working order, it may well have benefited from the care of private ownership for some time. There are a few small dents and minor scratches on the stock but generally both the barrel, action and stock display a pleasing patina without being dirty.
