P17 Eddystone Rifle with B4 Winchester Scope

An interesting Model 17 or “P17” Bolt Action Rifle by Eddystone
S/n 1041462 Chambered in .30-06. Mauser action with 5-shot internal magazine.
Bolt action Remington U.S. Service rifle, fully stocked in black American Walnut with finger grooves and full length hand-guard. The main markings over the breech covered by the front scope mount, but the serial number still visible “1041462” Adjactent to the serial number on the action is a Canadian marking of a large “C” within which is the war department arrow head.
Fitted with the correct Model B4 Winchester scope tested by the U.S.Marines during world war one. The reticule is a thin horizon and pointer type with fine adjustment possible through use of the rear gimble. (mount)
The fore end of the stock shows the remains of the red band put on the rifle to indicate the caliber as being .30-06, in the second world war when the rifle was probably issued to the home guard. The barrel is marked behind the foresight reads “E / flaming bomb / 9-18″
