Imperial Meeting Bisley 2013

Posted under Events

Just like to say it was good to see all the old faithfuls turn up at Bisley for the Imperial over the weekend of the 6th/7th of July.

Despite steaming hot temperatures we all just about survived and a decent amount of trade was partaken of.

A couple of extremely interesting sniper variants came in, and that is all I am prepared to say at this moment in time; some research is required before release ..!

With the help of all concerned I was able to put on the largest display yet of superb quality rifles, and the feeling that like goes to like felt quite strong as during the show I was offered some really interesting items for resale, so watch this space; your golden fleece may yet appear..!

Results from the Trafalgar

A Great Weekend at the Trafalgar for By Sword & Musket

With mixed weather predicted on the horizon the outlook for the show was unsure to say the least.  Coupled with the unsure financial climate expectations were not high.  But, so much for predictions.  All negative forecasts proved unreliable to say the least.

Results and feedback were very encouraging.  It is very satisfying to see customers brought together with the particular item they have been wanting searching for for so long.

Here are some snaps from the show, look out for us at the Phoenix next year.  Plans so far are, we will be in exactly the same place as before.

Thanks for you custom and continued support.

Big Outing To The Trafalgar Meeting

Posted under Events

Goodday One and all !

By Sword & Musket will be exhibiting at both Bisley Shows this month.

Almost all the stock will be available for your perusal at the Bisley Trafalgar Meeting 21st & 22nd of October.

Mostly fine usable rifles from many of the main powers throughout the last century.

You will be able to examine a good cross section of types, calibers and mechanisms.  – There should be something for most serious buyers.

I will also be at the Bisley Antiques fair the following weekend.

I look forward to seeing you all and doing some exciting deals.

Kirk

The Pheonix has Risen

Posted under Events

A Very Encouraging Weekend at The Pheonix.

Looks like we’ve broken the back of it.  Against the overwhelming tide of negative news and events that we constantly have thrust down our throats, the collectible and classic arms trade has defied all odds and given a fantastic performance at the recent Pheonix fair at Bisley.

I don’t think I was alone in eventually turning in very good results for all our efforts.  In By Sword & Muskets’ case there was a strong interest in really good quality investments which the buyer is going to enjoy and use, and at the same time safe-guarding the investment.  The general feedback was an over-whelming mistrust in the banking and investment system ( which is no surprise! )  a genuine feeling that these kind of investments are far safer than money in the bank.  Even the regular shooter is now taking an interest in “the classics” as a way of using his money “wisely”.

Once again the discerning collector has proved he is always willing to pay the right price for quality correct items.  Good sniping rifles always provide a strong draw on the stand and once again a No4(T) which had returned to the fold was snapped up on the last day.  A record price, in my experience, was paid for both a mint, unused Lithgow SMLE and an fully matching Enfield No4 1/2 attributed to the Kings Royal Rifle Company.  Its nice to see excellent items emerging from collections that they have hiding away in for years, it reminds me why I set up in this business – and long may it last.

Attendance at the show was excellent on all three days and it was great to see some old faces milling around, surveying the goodies. I look forward to seeing you all again and chewing the cud over many more interesting articles.

See you all at Birmingham in June at the Motorcycle Museum.

The Birmingham International – November 2011

Posted under Events

I just wanted to thank all those who came along to the show at the Motorcycle Museum, who helped to make it  The Best Show I have ever done up there, smashing all records.

I thought the last two Bisley Shows were good but I had no idea what was in store for Sword & Musket at Birmingham.

As with the two last shows it is the quality items that are moving the quickest.  Which is a great sign as, By Sword and Musket, has been concentrating on this sector of the Classic and Collectible Military Rifle market for some time now.

The wise money seems to be sticking with Quality…. keep it up guys, you wont be dissappointed.

A foot note to all of this, is that the shipment from the USA has arrived, all the weapons have passed proof and are ready to be released to the right persons, its just a matter of time required to get them all listed.

I just wanted to wish all my customers Happy shooting, collecting and when it gets here….Christmas.

Trafalgar Trade Show 2011

I would just like to thank all my customers who showed up.  It was great to chat and put names to faces and then rifles to those faces.

The interest in classic and collectible military rifles is definately increasing.  Purchases were strong and it looks like the stock which is about to emerge from the proof house may not be enough to stem the tide of interst on the subject.

This only encourages me to carry on sourcing top quality military spec’ rifles from around the world.  It’s quality, not quantity that counts in this field, as so many of each mark were originally produced for the home forces of each of the countries.  Literally millions of some marks were produced and most of them were not too carefully treated.

It takes time to find the good ones and I just have to ask for your patience.  I would stress however that it is easy to surround your self with a huge collection of not very good stuff, and next year it will still be not very good stuff, which in turn will always be difficult to re-sell.  So discretion being the better part of valour, we all have to wait for the good ones to emerge.  So keep your eyes on the prize and I’ll get it for you.

Thanks again, see you all at the Pheonix next May …………….

33 New Arrivals from the States

Posted under Events

New Shipment from the US is IN….

Its that wonderful time of year again when all the documentation has come together. All the charges have been paid, the exporters have done their thing, the Airline its’ and the importers have made that magical phone call…. ” all the items have cleared and they are ready for colection….”

I can now announce that 33 differing Military Rifles have arived in the hands of Sword & Musket and as soon as they have passed proof they wll be listed and be available for sale to avid collectors and shooters all over the country.

They cover a wide field of interest and added to the already interesting but, rapidly dwindling list in stock, include some of the following;  There are approximately

6 1903 Springfield US Service Rifles in .30-06

7 Swedish Mausers in 6.5mm

3 No4 Enfields in .303

3 K98 Mausers in 7.92mm

3 P17 in .30-06

2 Springfield Krags in .30-40

A French Berthier Carbine

A .44 mag 1894 Marlin

An 1895  Steyr in 8mm

A Schmidt-Rubin 1896/11 in 7.5mm

A 50.-70 Springfield Trapdoor Musket

If any of these are of interest to you please do not hesitate to get on the blower and I will give any details I can at that moment.  Viewing will not be possible for sometime, and I dont think they will make the Trafalgar Meeting at Bisley as they will probably still be in proof.

Nevertheless, Sword and Musket will be at the Trafalgar, October 22 & 23 with a wide selection of current stock as shown on the website now, and it would be great to see you all and TALK GUNS.
