Persian Mauser………..SOLD

A superb example of the “Persian” Mauser in 7.92mm
Standard Mauser Bolt Action Rifle with 5-shot internal magazine. Straight bolt handle marked with serial number, finished in the “white” action blued. A number has been applied ( guessing it is a translation ) of “R9982″ under the front end of the muzzle. The rifle is 49″ long, the round blued barrel is 29.1/8” long.
Fully stocked in a pleasing close-grained and light colored timber, The butt-stock has the classic semi-pistol grip pattern with a hand-guard that surrounds the rear sight but stops half way along the barrel. The fore-end has finger grooves a round blank steel ID disk and a flat steel butt-plate. The butt is marked with a matching serial number and has a sling swivel mounted nearer to the semi-pistol grip. It has two other sling swivels and a stacking hook. It has a half length cleaning rod and bayonet fitting in the nose cap.
The action which is blued has the clear Persian crest which consists of a grand lion holding a eastern sword in front of a rising sun on a horizon. The lion is surmounted by a wreath with a crown on top. The serial number is repeated on the left along with other Arabic markings, probably the model designation. The bolt can be removed by the conventional method with a bolt release catch at the rear. The bolt has the conventional flag safety and is marked on the stem with “D 8” and a “Z” within a circle, this is the mark of the CZ factory, who produced these rifles.
The rear sights have clear Arabic markings on the face. The front sight is on a sliding wedge with protectors. The bayonet fits over the cleaning rod when it is in place. The bayonet is marked with matching serial numbers and the same crown on the hilt. The bayonet itself is 21.1/2″ long. When mounted it extends the overall length or the weapon to a staggering 65.1/4″. The blade is 15.1/4″ long and in very fine condition. It has wooden grips and a steel blued scabbard. The rifle is extremely accurate and pulls of excellent groups with factory loads. The bore is excellent, put this next to a standard G98 and there is very little difference, the cheapest way to buy a Gew’98 !
