Second World War Remington 03-A3 U.S. Service Rifle………….SOLD

A really good condition Remington 1903-A3 Bolt Action U.S. Service Rifle
In service caliber .30-06, 5-shot Bolt Action Rifle with internal magazine. Serial number 4179989. 43.1/4″ in overall length with a parkerized barrel of 24″.
All parts of the rifle are finished by Parkerization, the bolt being a darker grey than the rest of the rifle which is is the classic green/grey of the same finish. All parts appear to be Remington produced, the only non-Remington part being the butt-plate which is by Smith-Corona.
The stock and hand-guard appear to be first fitments with fresh clear stampings. Also evident is the lack of sanding to the stock in that the two cross-bolts are still recessed into the stock by a good amount on both sides. Behind the pressed steel trigger guard is the circled final “P” proof mark, whereas in front of the guard are the four usual factory inspectors marks found on these rifles. Although this rifle gives the impression of very little use, if any, it has a few minor storage and handling marks on the stock, the worst of these being on the hand-guard. On the LHS of the wrist are the usual cartouches, “RA” being the first, “FJA” next to it and above the crossed cannons of the Remington arms factory.
The receiver is marked as follows ; ” U.S. / REMINGTON / MODEL 03-A3 / 4179989″ There is a gas escape hole on the LHS of the receiver, magazine cutt-off switch to the rear on the same side which doubles as the bolt release. On the rear bridge of the action are the simplified battle sights of the A3. The swept handled bolt has a flag safety marked “READY” & ” SAFE”. There is very little wear on the surfaces within the action; pointing to a lack of use.
The barrel is marked behind the front sight “R .A / flaming bomb motive / 7 – 43″ . Pressed steel trigger guard and floor plate to magazine. Pressed steel stock fittings and sling swivels. Pressed steel nose-cap and bayonet fitting, all designed for expediency during manufacture. Single blade pinned blued fore-sight. Butt-plate with cleaning trap. The rifle has the later two groove bore which is in excellent condition, the action is smooth despite the parkerization.
Altogether this rifle is almost in issue condition and has plenty more years of use left in it. British proofs applied.
