1827 Pattern Naval Officers Sword…..SOLD
Created on November 7th 2008
Fine 1827 Pattern Naval Officers Sword & Cover
This fine Naval Officers sword comes with its scabbard and regulation black carrying bag, both being intact and servicable. The sword is of regulation specifications with a standard 31.1/2″ single fullered balde. Slightly “misting” from age but with out serious corrosion, only two small patches of darker deterioration showing near the fouled anchor and the “GR V” cypher. Otherwise standard floral etching with star and brass disc proof mark. “03904” on the back of the blade but no makers name. (not uncommon with this pattern of sword)
Fine half basket-hilt with fouled anchor and crown, with folding guard. Intact ray-skin grip bound with brass wire. Excellent lions-head pommel and clean intact blue and guilt regulation knot.
The scabbard is intact but showing signs of age with one crease near the bottom brass chape. Good middle band and brass mouth with two suspension rings. A fine example of an Officer Naval Sword from the George V period still in good servicable order.
