WW1 P17 Winchester……….SOLD

A Good Standard Issue Winchester P17 in .30-06

Overall length 46.1/4″.  Barrel length 25.3/4″.   Serial number on breech 155322.  Caliber .30-06

Mauser style action with internal 5-shot magazine.  Enfield style safety at rear of action.  Nickle Steel bolt marked under handle “W” for Winchester and “N.S.”  On top of bolt handle is the clear “flaming bomb” inspectors mark.

Breech looks to be finished in an early parkerised finish clearly marked “U.S. / MODEL OF 1917  /  WINCHESTER  /  155322”   Gas escape hole on RHS.  Action marked on LHS wall with the  “flaming bomb” inspection mark.

Flip up rear sight Winchester inspected graduated to 1600 yds with open appature battle sight in the down position. “E” marked bolt release and rearsight leaf spring.  Muzzle end of barrel marked thus “W / flaming bomb / 2 -18″  – manufacturer and date.

Good american walnut dark stock with grasping groves at the fore-end and semi-pistol grip. Matching intact hand guard.  The stocks are in good condition with light wear from usage.  Single blade fore sight with foresight protector.  The trigger guard and magazine floor plate have lost most of their finish and have become polished bright.

Two sling swivels and a stacking swivel.  Plain steel butt plate with trap for cleaning accessories.  Good bore with strong rifling.
