A good example of the 1911 Schmidt-Rubin Model Rifle
This example is the full length rifle with the 30″ barrel with six round detachable box magazine.
S/n 349272 in 7.5 x 55mm.
The 1911 model is distinguishable immediately by the gap between the trigger guard and the box magazine underneath, the semi-pistol grip, and the two grooves in the top of the receiver. To be certain, on examining the bolt when removed the locking lugs are at the front of the sleeve yet the bolt is still full length.
51.1/2″ in overall length with full lengh stock and handguard in walnut. The forend having finger groves under the rear ladder sight. All parts having matching numbers as expected, smaller components showing only the last three digits. Particularly noticable are the numbered barrel, action and bolt.
Steel butt plate with “272” and swiss cross on tang. Just in front on the top flat of the butt is the word “CASEL-LAND”. The side of the stock sports a small swiss cross cartouche. Underneath is the numbered magazine. Rear sights are graduated up to 2000 meters and the pull handle is of the red bakelite type. Front band incorporates bayonet lug and stacking hook.
The rifle is in all its original finish with an excellent bore. The wood work is dented and scratched but there are no splits or cracks. There is high point wear on all components which all add to the genuine feeling that the rifle has at no point been messed with and is entirely original.
This is a good example of the marque and I for one would not like to run up against it in any shooting competition with any level of half competent shooter behind it, because these rifles have a well earned reputation for accuracy.
