The Popular Marlin Cowboy in Stainless Steel
A sought after rifle for competition, in .357 Mag which has undergone competition upgrades and is fettled to win. Serial number “91805334” on the LH action. Chambered in .357 Magnum, it has undergone trigger work to improve pull and is now superbly smooth. This rifle has won the current owner several competitions (Pheonix league etc) and consistantly achieved a top score of 300. Built as to standard Marlin specifications and finished in stainless steel with American Walnut stocks. Lever action with cross hammer safety and lever-grip safety. Side ejection bolt to allow for scope mounting – marked “USA” on top face. Hammer spur machiened to provide more purchace to the thumb.
Full length tubular magazine under barrel and single carbine barrel band. The address on the top LHS quadrant of the barrel reads; ” THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN. CT. U.S.A. / MODEL 1894 CSS CAL. .357 MAG.” Rubber sholuder pad on butt, with Marlin Cowboy motif. Standard open sights in position under scope. Scope rail fitted with Bushnell “Sportsman” variable magnification scope. The object lense adjustable with range markings, standard thin cross-hair reticule. Optics excellent. Overall the rifle measures 36″. The round barrel is 18.1/2″ long. The Pull is 13.3/4″ to centre.
Mechanically the action is slick with no hangups and mechanically fine. Bore fine with “normal” rifling. Factory checkered wrist and fore-end. Stock in good order with only minor signs of use. The dreaded Red mist is attempting to get hold of the rifle but it can only really get in where the surface is disrupted, like the serial number. The finish over the loading cover is starting fail possibly because of the passage of rounds being pushed through it, however, that is always replacable if need be. Generally the rifle is in very good order.
