The Reliable CZ Brno in .22 LR with Moderator
It is very difficult to top, the pure value for money aspect, when it come to these simple little .22 Sporters. Made by the same factory, in essence that built arms in occupied Czechoslovakia during WWII for the Third Reich. The same expertise and solid engineering traditions that are ingrained in these modern rifles have been developed since between the wars and run still to this date.
Built as a simple Mauser action turn-bolt rifle, magazine fed from below. This example comes with both a 5-shot and 10-shot magazine. The open sights have been removed (a/f) and a set of mounts and Nikko-Sterling 4 x 40 telescopic sight added. The rifle also benefits from having an 18″ threaded barrel and proofed Parker-Hale type moderator added. Pleasing European Walnut pistol grip stock (checkered grip) Two sling attachment points and plastic CZ butt-pad.
Text on the receiver indicates production in 1997 and UK proof in 1998. Serial number 621620. CZ logo and model designation on LHS outer action wall reads; “CZ 452-2E ZKM” Rear of bolt arm carries last three digits of serial number and has a push-lever safety on the shroud. Barrel marked “CAL .22 / LONG RIFLE”. Bore excellent – mechanically sound. A personal note: I give these particular rifles space on the website because of their inherent link with European military history, for CZ BRNO have actually produced rifles for many armies around the world and also because I do think they are excellent value for money.
