A Good Example of the L.F.& C. World War One Trench Knife
Made by Landers, Frary and Clarke of Connecticut USA, with the distinct pressed steel knuckle guard, produced during 1917.
Blued triangular blade of 9″ in length. Dark walnut handle shaped for the hand. In its steel mounted green leather scabbard which is marked along the stitched seam “JEWEL 1918”. The steel chape and throat pieces are attached to the leather by five small brass rivets. The blade is in excellent condition with much original finish and very little corrosion or damage.
There are seven pyramids on the steel guard with some loss of finish. The guard is marked with the makers details; “U.S. / L.F.&C. / 1917”
On the steel chape and guard there are the initials “M.S.” and on the top of the throat the initials “H.E.” The chape also has the correct drain hole at the base.
Overall length 14.1/2″ This World War One Trench Knife is in excellent all round condition and needs to go to a high quality collection,
