Remington No 4 Take-down Rolling Block Rifle in 32 R.F.
Fine condition Rolling Block with 22″ round barrel. Overall length 36.1/2″. Pull length 13″ to centre. Serial number stamped on underside of barrel just beyond fore-end tip, along with internal factory inspection marks. The serial number, “337257” is clearly repeated on the LH side of the action beneath the model designation. Two piece stock in excellent condition with original varnish. Approximately 50% blued finish remains on the barrel with light wear around the muzzle. Blued hammer and block – finish is strong, wear is minimal. Vivid case coloured action, upper tang and trigger guard. The action is the strongest cosmetic part if the whole item apart from the bore. Curved steel butt-plate with “Remington/ UMC /TRADE MARK” centrally marked.
Simple adjustable “V”- notch rear sight and bead front sights set into barrel. Top flat of barrel marked with “Remington / TRADE MARK.” between rear sight and breech. Forward of the rear sight is the following marking; “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC, REMINGTON / ILION, WORKS, ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A.” The calibre is marked adjacent to the rear marking on the LHS radius of the barrel; “32 SHORT OR LONG R.F.” Take-down slotted screw on RHS of action to release barrel. Weapon holds together well no rattle or shake. Pulling the block to the rear actuates the ejector. Excellent bore devoid of pitting, damage or corrosion with strong clear rifling. Slightest mild surface corrosion to the muzzle face which wouldn’t effect the weapons performance in a negative way.
This little rifle would make a superb addition to any serious rifle collection.
