US Navy Combat Knife………………..SOLD

The “K-Bar ”  standard combat knife as carried by branches of the Navy and the USMC

A genuine piece carried in WWII in its original leather scabbard.  The knife is a nominal 12″ in overall length with full tang steel construction.  Compressed leather handle with groves for improved grip.  Heavy duty steel pommel and a steel cross-guard.  The blade, bowie style tip with two sharpened edges and blood groove, overall length of blade 6.3/4″.

The flat of the blade is marked “U.S. NAVY”.  The obverse “RH. PAL (circled).37”  This marking illustrates that the knife was actually made by The Blade & Tool Co’

The leather scabbard is worn through usage.  Constructed with brass rivets and stitching.  Verdigris formed around the rivets.  Retention strap with single large rivet (A/F)

Condition:  The knife is tight with no rattling.  Good “Used” patina to grip.  Blade looks “used” and long edge shows evidence of sharpening  but not to the detriment of the object.  Point, slightly rounded.
