Percussion Target Pistol……….SOLD
Created on June 3rd 2010
Finely built English Percussion Target Pistol with Long Barrel
This Pistol is unmarked except for the clear Birmingham Proof Marks which are on the underside of the Barrel where some clear colour and demascus patterning remains.
There is no serial number or makers name evident on the barrel or lock plate. This unusual pistol has a 14″ damascus octagonal barrel. The stock is finely constructed from Walnut with a checured grip and iron mounts. There is a lower rib which holds the original steel ramrod.
This is a fine example of an English target or buggy pistol with low blade and folding rear sight. The flat lock features fine scoll engraving with a monster headed fish scaled hammer. Single barrel wedge with silver esctucheon. There is also a blank german silver inlay behind the upper tang.
Chequering is crisp, engraving fine. Mechanically in good working order. Strong belted ball rifling remains. The stock and rest of the pistol show wear consumate with the age of the piece very few marks on the stock.
A fine and unusual piece which would compliment any collection.
£2000.
