.30 Caliber Rimfire Four Barrelled Pocket Pistol
Serial number 5015. Overall length 5.1/2″. Barrel length aprox 3″ .30 caliber rimfire.
Finish – blued barrel cluster of four with engraving – floral patterns with stippled central panel for grip when pulling barrels forward to reload. Central top flute engraved with retailers name; “JAMES BRYCE. EDINBURGH.” All bores rifled and in good condition with little or no pitting. Silver foresight. The sliding mechanism works well and locks up correctly. The serial number is stamped under the barrels at the front near the muzzel. There are Birmingham Proof marks on either side of the barrel cluster.
The action is profusely engraved with floral swirls and patterns. The makers name is marked on the left side of the action: “TIPPING & LAWDEN / SHARPS PATENT”. The action displys a pleasing degree of wear and patina probably due to use and handling in the pocket…..by sweaty nervous hands in a tense poker game….. Silver plating over a brass frame is evident. Blued concealled trigger emerges on cocking the weapon. Blued steel release button under action
Floral brown gutta percha two piece grips with pleasant silver engraved design on the heel of the butt.
The excellently designed rotating pin of the rimfire hammer and springs associated with the mechanism of the hammer display some nice nitra blue and all work perfectly. For such a complicated idea this is pleasing feature of these pistols for the collector.
An intricate & clever piece of design which was built under license by several companies at the time.
£1450.
