Navy 1851 Model Civilian Percussion Revolver
A nice plain example of the Civilian Model 1851 Navy Colt.
Serial number 109280 with matching numbers throughout, including rammer and wedge. .36 caliber percussion 6 shot cylinder. 7.1/2″ octagon barrel with fair to good bore. Although muzzel has had some uneven wear. Brass trigger guard and backstrap with good one-piece walnut grips. The metal surfaces show an all over pleasing brown to plum patina the barrel showing numerous peen and impact marks especially about the wedge area. The frame exhibits a slightly more grey patina with less usage marks. The left side of the frame being marked “COLTS”
The cylinder is in similar condition with virtually no engraved scene remaining although the standard markings of “COLTS PATENT No109280” is still clear. The cylinder stop pins are still in good condition and all present, as are the nipples. The gun functions well mechanically.
Single brass front sight and American address on top flat of barrel which reads “ADDRESS COL.SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S AMERICA”
A nice overall well used example of Colt history in your hand.
