Winchester Model 94 Angle Eject Saddle Ring Carbine
This rifle emerged from the USA in a bankrupt stock sale as unused / unsold. It appears that some clever person has tried to apply a cows-head brand to the stock but only succeeded in badly disturbing the lacquer. There are two tiny light scratches on the metal work but it is the opinion of the writer that this rifle has not been fired before UK proof. There are no signs of any residue in the barrel, dirt or brass in the mechanics. The finish had to be stripped and then reapplied to repair the branding issue. Its come up looking rather good though I say it my self!
So, what we have here is a perfect Winchester Model 1894 “Angle Eject” in new condition with Saddle Ring fitted on the LHS of the action. As Winchester specification and marked on the underside of the action with the serial number, “6272723”. Chambered in .357 Magnum. Lever action with lever safety and cross bolt button safety. Standard Winchester build on the John Browning design in modern materials. The rifle measures 38″ in length. The round blued barrel is just under 20″ long and the trigger pull is 13.5/8″ to center.
Excellent wood work with Winchester hard butt-plate with the Winchester logo in the centre. Single barrel band with full length tubular magazine underneath. Loading gate on the RHS and the plain metal of the bolt can seen through the angle eject opening on the top of the action. Blanking screws, undisturbed on the upper surfaces of the action. The circled “WP” proof mark of Winchester. Open sights. This carbine is fitted with the cross bolt button safety, which will interrupt the fall of the hammer if applied. Serrated hammer to aid grip. This rifle is so new that there is no sign of any thinning of finish around the saddle ring which is fitted to the LHS of the action.
An excellent and hard to find example of Winchester’s later produced lever action carbines, ready to be broken in.
