The classic Marlin 1894 CS in the desirable calibre of .357 or .38 special.
In good all round condition, used but looked after. Serial number 04078161. Calibre .357 and .38 Spl’ with full length tubular magazine under the barrel, lever action. The rifle measures a nominal 36″ in overall length, with a rubber padded flat English style butt stock. The trigger pull is 13.3/4″ and the round blued barrel is 18.1/2″ long.
The serial number is marked on the upper tang behind the hammer. There is a cross bolt safety and the barrel bears the all important “JM” marking. Walnut straight grip chequered stocks with two sling swivels. Matt finish to top and base of receiver with blued polished sides in good condition, no scratches or pitting. Blued bolt and lever, bolt marked on top surface (visible when open) “357”. The top flat of the receiver is drilled for optical mounts and the LHS for a peep-type side mounted sight. All blanking screws are in position.
Original polished finish to stocks which have now obtained a patina through usage. Pleasing grain pattern. Minor dings and markings through standard use. Flip up buck-horn type sights and high front beaded blade sight as standard. The LHS of the barrel is marked as follows: ” THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN. CT. U.S.A. / MOD.1894CS MICRO-GROOVE BARREL CAL 357 MAG OR 38 SPL.” Bore good. The other side shows the usual “Shooting yourself in the head can hurt...!” warning from the States. British proofs applied in 1997.
