A Clean example of a .410 Smoothbore Enfield
Simply a very clean No 4 Enfield in Smoothbore (shotgun) .410 as a single shot which will take standard .410 cartridges or .303 blanks.
Possibly built on a private purchase blank receiver with very few markings. Normal 1940’s WW2 rifle configuration with a detachable magazine which has been cut down to still fit into the well but with no use other than cosmetics. The action has a plate welded into position cutting off feed from the magazine.
Serial number GR003. Virtually no other markings except for proof marks. Overall length 44.1/4″ Barrel length 25.1/4″ Length of Pull 13″ to centre. Very good unblemished woodwork. Simple flip-up aperture battle sight. Bayonet fitting at muzzle with guarded front sight. Steel type blackened butt-plate with trap for cleaning equipment. Rectangular cocking piece. Safety to rear LHS of action – fully operable. Canvas webbing strap in good condition with black fittings.
This .410 Enfield is in very good condition and not far off from what it would have been like the day it was issued. A great representation of the Enfield No 4 for any re-enactor or just the man who wants to shoot a shotgun version of the famous World War Two British battle rifle.
Sold with a proof certificate relating to the magazine modifications, which should stay with the gun.
